City of Cypress Youth Action Committee
9th-12th grade

Meets first Wednesday of every month (September – May)

Program Dates: August 2024 - May 2025

The Youth Action Committee (YAC) works in conjunction with the City of Cypress Recreation Department and outside groups for the benefit of the community. We are looking for creative high school students who want to represent their peers and promote teen-oriented programs and activities.

Requirements:

1. Must be a resident and/or attend a school in the City of Cypress.
2. Must be a high school student no older than eighteen years of age.
3. Required to volunteer a minimum of 30 hours for Cypress events and 10 hours with an alternative organization. 
4. Must carry a 2.5 GPA (excluding Physical Fitness) from the 2023-2024 academic school year.

Selection Procedure:

Students must submit a completed application to the Cypress Community Center, 5700 Orange Avenue or email to vbanuelos@cypressca.org by 5:00 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2024.

1. Youth Action Committee members are selected based on application, availability, and interview.
2. Interviews will be held on August 6 and 7, 2024 at the Cypress Community Center, 5700 Orange Avenue. Interviews will be set-up at the time of application submission. Up to 25 students will be selected. Students running for a board member position will interview on August 8, 2024.
3. Returning Youth Action Committee members are not guaranteed acceptance.
