Explorer Program Overview Video

The Cypress Police Explorer Post 1036 provides young men and women the opportunity to gain valuable training and experience in the law enforcement field. One of many goals of the program is to help teenage girls and boys to decide if a career in law enforcement is right for them.

Police Explorers perform a variety of community services such as: Traffic control, crowd control, fingerprinting children and assisting with special events. As part of the program, the explorer will be exposed to many aspects of the police department and will receive training in areas such as:

• Traffic/Crowd Control at Special Events
• Systematic Evidence/Person Searching Techniques
• Jail Procedures
• Radio Communications
• Records
• Community Relations
• Crime Scene Investigations

Along with training, the explorer will participate in many other Post activities such as:

• Emergency Activity Call-outs
• Ride-along with patrol officers
• Field Trips to other agencies
• Social trips to beaches, amusement parks, etc.
• Explorer Academy

Who May Participate?

Any young adult age 14 to 20 years of age who:

• Maintains a satisfactory grade point average of 2.5 or better
• Will maintain a good moral character and unblemished record
• Is healthy and possesses no deficiency in his or her physical condition which would deter him or her from a career in law enforcement.
